River cruises

Nijmegen harbour

Before you moor your boat or ship in Nijmegen, you will need to report to the Harbour Authority. Permission or a permit is needed in most harbours and quays. Send an email to register, get permission and obtain a permit.

The harbour masters are Willem den Breejen and Gerard Hendriks.

The berths for river cruisers are on the Waalkade quay:

1 x landing stage on Waalkade for one ship up to 110 metres long

500-metre quay for two river cruisers up to a total width of 25 metres to berth next to each other (maximum of six or eight ships, depending on their length: 135 or 110 metres)

There are additional options for smaller cruise ships:

1 x landing stage on Waalkade

1 x landing stage in the Lindenberg harbour

Water level, depth and loading height
The average water level in Nijmegen is +7 metres Amsterdam Ordnance Datum (NAP). The bottom of the Waalkade quay is at the same level as the river: +2 metres Amsterdam Ordnance Datum (NAP). The loading height of the quay is +12.20 metres Amsterdam Ordnance Datum (NAP).

Facilities
Quayside electricity with a maximum load of 1 x 400A (Powerlock) or 2 x 125A is available at the landing stage and the quay. It is also possible to load drinking water, but you will need your own hosepipe.

Arnhem harbour

Before you moor your boat or ship in Arnhem, you will need to report to the Harbour Authority. Permission or a permit is needed in most harbours and quays. Send an email to register, get permission and obtain a permit. Malburgen harbour and the quays at Nieuwe Kade and Rijnkade are managed by Arnhem city council. The harbour masters are Jelle Brink, Neil Sneezum and Berdie de Ruiter.

Navigability
Loading and unloading areas can be accessed by vessels of up to class Vb.

Length, width and depth
Malburgen harbour is over 1,500 metres long. Its width varies from 70 to 200 metres and its depth is approximately three metres at average river level. The depth at Nieuwe Kade and Rijnkade is about 2.80 metres at average river level.
