It's great to cycle in The other Holland. There are routes along rivers, through the Hanseatic cities, past WWII locations or right through the countryside. There was a lot of fighting in the Arnhem-Wageningen area during the Second World War. The failed Allied operation Market Garden cost thousands of lives in September 1944. On this route, you partly follow the Rhine and cross the river at the John Frost Bridge in Arnhem, which is also popularly called the ‘Bridge too Far’.
