It's great to cycle in The other Holland. There are routes along rivers, through the Hanseatic cities, past WWII locations or right through the countryside. Thanks to the extensive numbered junction cycle network, it is also very easy to plan your own routes based on location and desired distance. There was a lot of fighting in the Arnhem-Wageningen area during the Second World War. The failed Allied operation Market Garden cost thousands of lives in September 1944.
